BrT picks Ericsson, ZTE for 3G network equipment

Brazilian mobile operator Brasil Telecom (BrT) has selected Ericsson of Sweden and China’s ZTE to supply it with 3G network infrastructure, reports BNamericas citing a company statement. It is understood Ericsson will supply the core network and 80% of the required access equipment covering the states of Goias, Parana, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Distrito Federal. Meanwhile, ZTE will be responsible for access equipment in Acre, Roraima, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Tocantins. BrT is aiming to launch UMTS services by the end of March 2008.
