Nepal’s state-owned PTO Nepal Telecom is cutting its mobile tariffs from today, reports the Himalayan News Service. Under the new pricing structure a post-paid call (peak rate), will come down from NPR3 per minute (USD0.04) to NPR2.40, while an off-peak call will fall from NPR1.50 to NPR1. The new call tariff on NT’s pre-paid mobile service has been fixed at NPR3.20 per minute (peak) and NPR2 (off-peak), down from NPR3.50 and NPR3 respectively. The operator has also cut its tariff for its CDMA pre-paid Skyphone service to NPR2.70 per minute (peak) and NPR2 (off-peak), down from the current rate of NPR3 per minute. All the new tariffs are subject to VAT and a 12.5% telecoms service tax.
