French anti-trust body not ready to pursue France Telecom - yet

13 Feb 2008

France’s competition agency says it is not ready to pursue national incumbent France Telecom (FT) concerning allegations made by rival ISP Free that it is abusing its dominant position in the high speed broadband market. The anti-trust body will nevertheless investigate Free’s complaint and make a ruling shortly on whether to launch an action. Free, which is owned by the Iliad group, has accused the former state-owned monopoly of abusing its position to prevent competitors from developing their own fibre-optic networks.
