Auckland deploying Wi-Fi hotzones

13 Feb 2008

The city of Auckland in New Zealand is pushing ahead with its first two public wireless LAN hotzones to provide wireless internet access to the city centre. The city is working with internet service provider Kordia to roll out the Wi-Fi networks. Kordia is managing the service while the city is providing access to facilities such as public buildings for the location of access points. End users will have to pay for connectivity, though some council and city information websites are likely to be free to access.
