Harald Stoeber, CEO of alternative German telco Arcor, told Financial Times Deutschland that his firm is aiming for a 20% to 25% share of Germany’s telephone and broadband markets in the medium term, adding that the company wants to expand its network to pass 66% of households by spring this year, increasing to 70% in 2009. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Arcor, which is 74%-owned by the UK’s Vodafone Group, had close to 1.25 million carrier pre-selection (CPS) telephony subscribers at the end of 2007. It also had 2.4 million DSL users at the same date, giving it a 12.3% market share and placing it third behind Deutsche Telekom and United Internet.
