IIJ to use eMobile for new MVNO service

6 Feb 2008

Japanese telecoms company Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) has signed an agreement with mobile start-up eMobile enabling it to use the latter’s mobile network to provide an MVNO service starting from March 2008. In a statement, IIJ said it was launching the new service to meet the needs of corporate users for secure, low-cost, high speed mobile communications. IIJ already has an MVNO agreement in place with NTT DoCoMo to use its FOMA 3G network and will augment this with eMobile’s 3G/HSDPA service offering connection speeds of up to 7.2Mbps (downlink).
