AT&T gets nod for Aloha deal

6 Feb 2008

The US Federal Communications Commission has approved AT&T Inc’s USD2.5 billion acquisition of 700MHz spectrum licences from Aloha Partners. The licences were awarded to Aloha Partners and companies subsequently bought by Aloha between 2001 and 2003, and cover around 196 million people in 281 markets. The deal was first announced back in October 2007. The FCC is currently selling off further blocks of 700MHz spectrum, with the auction having raised a total of USD18.94 billion at the close of Tuesday’s bidding.
