Arcep reports two million net new mobile additions over Xmas

5 Feb 2008

Around two million new French mobile users signed up over the Christmas period, according to data published by the country’s telecoms watchdog Arcep. By the end of the year, France was home to some 55.4 million mobile users, a cellular penetration rate of 87.6%. Increased competition is, however, having an adverse impact on network operators’ average revenue per user (ARPU). Although blended monthly ARPU was relatively stable at EUR35.8 (USD52.1) at the end of September 2007, compared with EUR35.2 at 30 June, the figure was down from the average EUR37 per month recorded in the three months to 30 September 2006.
