Cabinet approves new telecoms plan

4 Feb 2008

Bahrain’s cabinet has approved the country’s second three-year telecoms expansion strategy, aimed at improving services and prices to attract global corporations to the Gulf state. The programme also seeks to involve consumers and other bodies in setting the sector’s framework and regulatory policies, notably those related to the protection of their rights, said a cabinet statement. It also aims to encourage the private sector to invest in the field and provide consumers with broadband internet services at highly competitive prices.
