Softbank Mobile introduces 3G pre-paid service

31 Jan 2008

Softbank Mobile says it is launching a pay-as-you-go 3G service from 4 February 2008. The new service will offer all the conveniences of the cellco’s existing 2G pre-paid service, says Softbank spokesman Masayoshi Son. In addition, the new 3G offering will include ‘Unlimited Mail’ for JPY300 per month, and video calls. At launch, the company is introducing a new lightweight handset – the Panasonic-manufactured Softbank 705Px – together with a pre-paid USIM card. Top-up cards with face values of JPY3,000 or JPY5,000 will be available from the usual outlets.
