Chunghwa targets one million fibre customers

31 Jan 2008

Taiwan’s dominant telco, Chunghwa Telecom, says it is aiming to sign a million customers on its national fibre networks by the end of the year. Chunghwa’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks currently serve around 600,000 users and the company says it is signing 30,000 new customers a month. Between 70% and 80% of the new additions on the FTTH system are existing Chunghwa customers who migrate from ADSL connections, DigiTimes reports. Chunghwa has lowered the price for a 10Mbps (downlink)/2Mbps (uplink) fibre connection to TWD990 (USD30.6) a month.
