T-Mobile Macedonia questions 3G licence award

30 Jan 2008

Officials at T-Mobile Macedonia have raised objections to the government’s recent award of a single 3G licence to rival mobile operator Cosmofon, owned by Cosmote of Greece, and have demanded that the regulator, the Agency for Electronic Communications, reconsider its decision. According to a report from makfax, T-Mobile contends that the government awarded the concession to Cosmofon despite its rival submitting what it claims was a ‘non-transparent offer’. By contrast, T-Mobile says its bid was fully transparent. The jilted cellco is also concerned that the AEC has thus far provided no expanation for rejecting its bid.
