FiberTel increases broadband coverage

BNamericas reports that Argentinean broadband provider FiberTel has expanded its services to the cities of Resistencia and Balcarce with an investment of ARS3.5 million (USD1.1 million). In Resistencia, in Chaco province, around 12,000 homes will be connected, and in Balcarce, in Buenos Aires province, services will be extended to more than 5,000 households.

FiberTel is the ISP arm of media firm Grupo CableVision. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, it had a total broadband client base of 400,000 at the end of September 2007, in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area as well as the provinces of Buenos Aires, La Plata, Cordoba, Rosario, Campana, Rio Cuarto, Santa Fe, Pergamino, Olavarria and Bahia Blanca.
