AT&T improves broadband offers

AT&T has boosted the peak download speed available to customers on its U-verse fibre network to 10Mbps. The new tier will be launched next month and will offer maximum upload speeds of 1.5Mbps. AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Max will be available for USD55 a month when bundled with U-verse TV. AT&T is the largest broadband provider in the US, with 13.8 million ADSL and fibre connections at the end of September, including 126,000 U-verse internet and TV customers. Separately, AT&T has expanded its offer of free unlimited public Wi-Fi network access. Previously only available to subscribers taking its highest speed packages, free Wi-Fi is now being offered to all AT&T broadband customers with downstream speeds of 1.5Mbps, 3Mbps or 6Mbps.
