23 Jan 2008

The Romanian CDMA-450 operator Zapp has awarded a network expansion contract to ZTE of China. Zapp has also contracted the vendor to supply a 3G network using the 2100MHz UMTS spectrum it won in October 2006. The cellco says it is well advanced with its preparations for a 3G launch and it hopes to introduce services in 19 major cities before the end of June 2008. Zapp is wholly owned by Dubai-based telecoms investment firm Saudi Oger.
