Sanyo to sell mobile business to Kyocera

Sanyo is selling its mobile phone manufacturing business to Kyocera for as much as JPY50 billion (USD469 million), creating the world’s sixth largest handset maker in the process. Reuters reports that the deal is expected to be completed by 1 April. Kyocera is currently ranked the ninth largest mobile phone manufacturer, with Sanyo number ten. The enlarged entity will have a global market share of around 1.5%.
