Pannon, Ericsson test 3G at 900MHz

22 Jan 2008

Hungarian mobile operator Pannon has commenced field trials of a 3G mobile network system in the 900MHz band in partnership with Ericsson of Sweden, writes CellularNews. The cellco sees 900MHz as a more cost-effective means of deploying and operating UMTS, particularly in less densely populated areas. Pannon hopes to conclude its tests as soon as possible in preparation for a commercial launch, although it declined to provide details.
