Brazilian investment firm Docas Investimentos, controlled by local entrepreneur Nelson Tanure, has acquired Intelig Comunicacoes, a Brazilian long-distance telecoms operator, for an undisclosed fee, Gazeta Mercantil reports, without citing its source. Docas has agreed a deal to acquire Intelig, which possesses more than 500,000km of fibre-optic cables in Brazil, from a consortium comprising the UK’s National Grid, Sprint Nextel of the US and France Telecom, Gazeta said. The deal is subject to approval by the telecoms regulator Anatel and the antitrust agency Cade.
