Italy’s Ministero delle Comunicazioni (MdC) has reportedly received 29 offers for the auction of 3.5GHz WiMAX frequencies for broadband wireless access, from an initial 48 which expressed an interest when the sale was first announced in December last year. Among those who intend to bid for the frequencies include Telecom Italia, Wind and Fastweb. The government will begin evaluating the bids on 30 January 2008, and the sale is expected to raise between EUR100 million (USD146.6 million) and EUR200 million.
