Vimpelcom opens offer for Golden shares

The Russian cellular operator Vimpelcom confirmed on Friday its agreement to pay USD105 per share to acquire fixed line sister company Golden Telecom. The deal values Golden Telecom at around USD4.3 billion. The tender offer began on Friday and will run for 20 days. The offer price represents a 3.5% premium on the value of Golden Telecom shares. Both Vimpelcom and Golden are majority owned by Russia’s Alfa Group and Telenor of Norway.
