21 Jan 2008

Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Management of State Property has sold the government’s 50% stake in wireless-in-the-local loop (WiLL) operator CATEL. The holding was sold to US-based consortium Omni-Metromedia Caspian, the original partner in the CATEL joint venture and holder of the other 50% of the company, for AZN5 million (USD5.9 million). It is estimated that CATEL had around 30,000 subscribers by the end of 2007.
