Good year at Mobily

The Saudi cellular operator Mobily (Etihad Etisalat) has reported a fourth-quarter profit of SAR514 million (USD137.1 million), up from SAR330 million in the year-ago period. Profit for the full year almost doubled to SAR1.38 billion, while sales rose 44.3% to SAR8.44 billion The firm says the positive result was down to launching new services, improving network coverage and adding new sales outlets in remote areas, Reuters reports. Mobily says cellular penetration in Saudi Arabia has now reached 100%, with a third operator, Zain, due to launch this year. Mobily did not release subscriber figures but claims it now holds 40% of the Saudi mobile market, up from 30% a year ago.
