Telecom Italia (TI) said yesterday its planned capital expenditure in Brazil, where it owns mobile operator TIM Brasil, is likely to exceed its original target of BRL6 billion (USD3.4 billion) for the period 2007-09. Reuters quotes the company’s CEO Franco Bernabe as saying ‘We believe we will raise investments because we think that the market can expand well beyond the mobile telephone.’ He said most of the additional investment will be earmarked for 3G services although he declined to provide precise figures.
