Vivendi confident of buying Vodafone's SFR stake

Vivendi chief executive officer Jean-Bernard Levy is confident he can persuade the UK’s Vodafone Group to sell him its 44% stake in their French mobile joint venture SFR, the Financial Times reports. Although Vodafone has said it would not offload the stake, Levy suggests the UK firm’s desire to acquire wireless assets in emerging markets could prove the catalyst for a change of heart. Nonetheless, the Vivendi man reiterated it was not looking to force Vodafone to sell the stake and stressed the pair have a good working relationship where SFR is concerned.
