Suptel asks cellcos to improve quality

16 Jan 2008

Ecuadorian telecoms authority Suptel has publicly issued a request for mobile operators Porta, owned by America Movil, and Movistar, the local unit of Telefonica, to improve the quality of services, reports BNamericas. Last year Suptel measured the quality of services offered by the two rival networks in several cities, before presenting the cellcos with its results and holding a series of meetings with the firms to discuss solutions. The watchdog will monitor the operators to guarantee the fulfillment of agreements to improve service quality.
