14 Jan 2008

Teletrans, the communications subsidiary of Romania’s power transmission company Transelectrica, has awarded Alcatel-Lucent a contract to deploy IP/MPLS (multi protocol label switching) technology. The ‘multi-million euro’ deal will form the basis of Teletrans’ nationwide optical network expansion and optimisation, according to the vendor. Teletrans will implement dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transport technology in 28 locations and IP/MPLS service routing capabilities in 35 data sites. Alcatel-Lucent will also deliver services including installation, deployment, integration, testing, training and maintenance.
