Japan’s Communications Ministry will tomorrow issue new rules requiring Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (NTT) to open its high capacity fibre-optic network to rival providers, including KDDI and Softbank, the Nikkei daily says without citing sources. It is understood the Ministry will also compel NTT to ensure its connection fees for the high speed service, which the telco is installing in a bid to encourage users of its legacy network to switch onto the faster system, are fully transparent.
