Alcatel-Lucent readies WiMAX test centre

Alcatel-Lucent has announced that it is preparing to open its WiMAX Application and Interoperability Testing (IOT) centre in Taiwan. The centre, which was set up under an agreement with the Taiwanese government signed last October, will promote the development of WiMAX products and establish a ‘robust and mature WiMAX ecosystem’, the vendor says. Local manufacturers will use the centre to test their WiMAX customer premises equipment (CPE). ‘Our government encourages multinational enterprises to set up R&D centres in Taiwan, and we are very pleased that Alcatel-Lucent chose Taiwan to build their WiMAX IOT centre,’ said Steve Ruey-Long Chen, Minister of Economic Affairs.
