T-HT out of bidding for Telekom Slovenije, DT still competing through Magyar

4 Jan 2008

German colossus Deutsche Telekom (DT) may place a binding bid for the state-owned 49.13% stake up for grabs in Slovenian incumbent telco Telekom Slovenije, through its Hungarian subsidiary Magyar Telekom, Financial Times Deutschland reported, citing unidentified local sources. Another DT subsidiary, Croatia’s T-Hrvatski Telekom yesterday announced that it will not follow through with a bid for the Telekom Slovenije stake. A total of seven companies had placed non-binding bids and the Slovenian authorities will later today reveal which suitors remain in the race, with Magyar and Iceland’s Skipti being touted as favourites in the press.
