Huawei wins second German infrastructure contract

4 Jan 2008

Chinese vendor Huawei is understood to have secured a contract with cellco O2 Germany to install some 8,000 base stations in the south of the country, according to the SinoCast news agency, quoting an inside source. Neither Huawei nor O2 have officially released any information about the deal. The contract will be the second deal Huawei has struck with a German operator in as many months; in December T-Mobile International engaged the Chinese supplier to provide next generation packet switched core networks (PSCN) for its infrastructure in five European countries: Germany, the UK, Austria, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
