Azercell strikes roaming agreements in Austria and Germany

The leading Azeri cellco by subscribers Azercell, has launched GPRS/MMS roaming services with Austria’s H3G and Germany’s T-Mobile, according to local news agency Trend. This is the third such agreement Azercell has reached in Austria and the second in Germany, with the operator’s subscribers already able to use the networks of Mobilkom and One in Austria and O2 in Germany. To date, Azercell has signed GPRS/MMS roaming deals with 113 network operators from 56 countries According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, its subscriber base was over 2.8 million at the end of September 2007, giving it a 70% market share.
