State raises Chunghwa Telecom foreign ownership cap to 55%

Taiwan’s government has raised the limit on combined direct and indirect foreign ownership in national PTO Chunghwa Telecom to 55% from the previous 49%. The maximum level of direct foreign ownership remains unchanged at 49%. Overseas institutional investors currently hold 44.5% of Chunghwa Telecom, which is 35.25% state-owned, with the remainder distributed between other investors.
