MT to launch HDTV over VDSL2+ in 1H08

Hungary’s dominant telecoms company Magyar Telekom (MT) plans to launch HDTV services over its VDSL2+ network in the first half of 2008, writes Telecompaper. The operator piloted the technology in the 11th district of Budapest in the summer to test VDSL2+’s capability for handling HDTV. The technology will deliver a minimum 25Mbps/1.5Mbps download/upload transmission rate and Ericsson is supplying equipment both for the trial and for its initial commercial launch.
