Freenet ends search for buyers

20 Dec 2007

German multi-service operator freenet has decided to stop looking for possible buyers for all or part of the company, reports Telecompaper. Talks with MVNO Drillisch about a possible sale of mobile division freenetMobile have ended. During summer 2007, freenet engaged the services of Morgan Stanley to review the potential break-up of the company by selling different parts to various buyers. The insights gained from the review has now led freenet’s board to consider setting up a holding vehicle and hiving off the DSL and portal businesses into subsidiaries, but otherwise it will continue with its convergence and brand strategy, which was suspended for the duration of the review
