Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) is thought to be in pole position to win a government mobile phone contract. Thomson Financial quotes a report from Italian daily MF which suggests that TIM is the likely winner of a two-year deal to supply up to 392,000 SIM cards to the public administration. Vodafone and Wind are also vying for the contract, which is thought to be worth between EUR175 million and EUR250 million (USD252 million-USD360 million). The government’s current mobile deal with Wind ends in February.
