Regulator begins network separation process

17 Dec 2007

Italy’s telecoms regulator Agcom says it has formally opened the procedure which will see Telecom Italia’s network business split from its commercial activities. The telco can present its own proposals for achieving the ‘effective and efficient separation’ of the network unit in order to provide equal access rights to all players. If Agcom is not happy with these proposals, however, it will move to impose its own plan for ‘functional separation’.
