Sonatel selects Ascade to improve global interconnect business

Senegal’s national fixed line operator Sonatel has signed a contract with Ascade, a global provider of advanced routing, billing and quality solutions for the interconnect market, for the supply of the latter’s Carrier Cockpit suite to optimise and automate its entire global interconnect business. Ascade will provide the telco with complete operational and management support for near real-time optimisation of its core interconnect processes, it said in a statement. Sonatel Director of Operations and International Relations, Aissatou Dieng-Diop, said: ‘The project has already started and we anticipate to have the Carrier Cockpit suite fully integrated with our IT and Siemens EWSD Switching infrastructure in a very short timeframe. It is our view that the suite will help us staying ahead of the competition while at the same time improving our revenue and margins significantly.’
