Alca-Lu expands Wharf’s IP network

13 Dec 2007

Hong Kong fixed line operator Wharf T&T has selected Alcatel-Lucent to expand its metro Ethernet network with upgraded IP/MPLS technology as part of its IP network transformation project. Wharf T&T first adopted Alcatel-Lucent’s IP/MPLS solutions in 2005 to offer Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to business customers. The new upgrade is aimed at meeting Wharf’s backhauling needs for improved network resilience, reliability and scalability. Alca-Lu will provide Wharf with its 7750 Service Router and 7250 Service Access Switch, managed by the 5620 Service Aware Manager, and will also carry out project management, installation, deployment, maintenance and testing.
