MetroPCS extends Alca-Lu contract

11 Dec 2007

The US cellular operator MetroPCS has extended its existing equipment contracts with Alcatel-Lucent. The three-and-a-half-year extension covers the supply of CDMA2000-based 3G networks in four new markets – New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Las Vegas – plus three markets where MetroPCS already has operations (Detroit, Dallas and Los Angeles). MetroPCS currently offers unlimited flat-rate plans in ten US metropolitan areas; it claimed 3.7 million subscribers at the end of September.
