Capital buys 1.6% of TeliaSonera

US investment company Capital Group has bought 29.5 million shares in TeliaSonera since October to take its overall holding to 73.87 million shares, or 1.6% of the Swedish telco’s total equity. The purchases push it ahead of Swedish private equity group Cevian Capital, with 71.7 million shares, to make it TeliaSonera’s fourth largest single shareholder. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, the Swedbank Robur fund is the Nordic group’s third largest single stockholder, with 2.1%; the Swedish government has a holding of 37.3%, whilst the Finnish government owns 13.7%.
