France Telecom has agreed to acquire the remaining 25% of telecoms operator Al-pi that it does not already own from the Catalonian government for EUR30 million (USD43.9 million), writes El Pais citing unnamed sector sources. As part of the agreement, the Catalonian government will recover control over a part of the network which it considers strategic. In addition, France Telecom has agreed to group all of its businesses in Catalonia under one holding group, France Telecom Cataluna, for a minimum of four years. The deal values Al-pi, which specialises in providing telecom services to business, at EUR117.2 million, the newspaper said.
