Net Servicos ditches Vivax brand, launches comprehensive service portfolio

Brazilian pay-TV provider Net Servicos has replaced the Vivax brand name in several cities of Sao Paulo, timing the move to coincide with the launch of a complete portfolio of services in the region, reports BNamericas citing local news service Agencia Estado. According to the newspaper, Net will unveil its voice telephony service Net Fone, its internet access service Net Virtua and cable TV offering in the cities in question. It is ditching the old brand name following last May’s successful acquisition of rival pay-TV operator Vivax. The purchase, which was approved by the watchdog Anatel, gifted Net Servicos access to the densely populated Sao Paulo state, where Vivax held concession licences for 34 towns and cities and was the sole cable TV operator in 32 of them.

At the end of September 2007 Net had 2.4 million cable TV customers, up 17% year-on-year, while broadband subscriptions totalled 1.3 million, up 71% compared to the same period a year earlier. Net also had 469,000 voice telephony subscribers, a massive 308% higher than in 3Q06.
