Alcatel-Lucent wins EUR750 million contracts from Chinese telcos

Alcatel-Lucent, via its Chinese subsidiary Alcatel Shanghai Bell, has forged agreements to sell EUR750 million worth of mobile equipment to China Mobile and China Unicom. The French equipment vendor will sell China Mobile more than EUR600 million worth of equipment, including GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio and core networking devices, mobile applications, IP routers and optical networking kit. In addition the world’s largest cellco by subscribers has agreed to purchase 3G equipment based on TD-SCDMA (time division-synchronous code division multiple access). China Unicom, meanwhile will purchase EUR150 million worth of CDMA networking equipment, GSM/GPRS radio and core networking apparatus, mobile applications, IP routers, optical networking and related services from Alcatel.
