Portugal’s telecoms regulator ANACOM has reported that there were 12.9 million mobile phone subscribers in the country by the end of September 2007, up by 4.4% on the previous quarter and 8.5% year-on-year. Cellular penetration reached 122.1% at the end of the third quarter, according to the watchdog, which added that around 14.9% of users had two active SIM cards, while 2.5% had three or more SIMs. 78.2% of all customers were pre-paid. Outgoing mobile call traffic in the three months ended 30 September totalled 3.5 billion minutes, up 8.5% quarter-on-quarter.
