20 Nov 2007

Saudi Arabia’s largest fixed line and cellular operator, Saudi Telecom Company (STC), says it has entered a last-minute bid in the auction for Kuwait’s third national wireless licence. The Kuwaiti government is offering a 26% stake in a new cellco which will compete with incumbents Zain (formerly MTC) and Wataniya. A statement from STC read: ‘Entering the Kuwaiti market would boost the integration of the telecommunications networks in the two countries.’
