Copaco predicts broadband improvement

20 Nov 2007

Paraguay’s state-owned fixed line telco Copaco says it expects to have 10,000 broadband internet subscribers by the end of this year and 30,000 by end-2008. The operator launched its first high speed ADSL services at the start of this year. Copaco’s commercial director Hugo Sosa told BNamericas: ‘Since we launched broadband services, the country’s penetration rate has increased significantly. With broadband and dial-up I believe we’re making a big contribution to narrowing the digital divide in the country.’ Copaco had 360,000 fixed line customers at the end of October and around 10,000 dial-up internet users.
