Italian fixed line, wireless and broadband operator Wind has posted net profits of EUR67 million (USD98.2 million) in the three months ending 30 September 2007, up 81% on the same period last year. Revenues grew by 4.6% year-on-year to EUR1.3 billion, while EBITDA reached EUR476 million. Cumulatively, Wind’s bottom line for the first nine months of 2007 is a net loss of EUR55 million on the back of total revenues of EUR3.9 billion, 4.3% year-on-year growth. EBITDA from January to September was EUR1.4 billion, a 7.6% increase on the same period in 2006.
Wind’s mobile customer base as of 30 September 2007 was over 15.3 million, and monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) was EUR19. Fixed line subsidiary Infostrada boasted 1.27 million voice subscribers and 942,000 broadband users at the end of September, yearly increases of 63% and 33% respectively. Wind said this strong performance was due to a highly appealing product portfolio, an effective advertising campaign, and unbundled coverage of around 40% of Italian households. Wind offers services at a total of 845 unbundled exchanges.
