Irish mobile operator O2 Ireland has signed a deal with the social networking website Bebo allowing O2 customers who are also registered users of Bebo to access a mobile-friendly version of the site on their phones. The agreement will enable subscribers to view and update their profiles, as well as receive alerts and post comments by SMS, reports online news portal ENN. O2 Ireland hopes the tie-up will boost its ARPU levels, while Bebo will benefit from increased exposure. The deal is similar to one struck by Vodafone and MySpace earlier this year and a tie-up between 3 Ireland and Skype to develop a mobile handset for VoIP calls.
