i-Cable broadband figures stagnate

i-Cable Communications, a unit of Hong Kong’s Wharf Holdings, has posted its January to September 2007 results, showing that total sales in the nine-month period fell to HKD1.75 billion (USD225 million) from HKD1.91 billion in the same period of 2006. Operating profit also fell to HKD144 million from HKD172 million but net profit rose to HKD153 million from HKD146 million. Cable broadband subscribers decreased by 3% year-on-year to 316,000 at the end of September 2007 as broadband turnover dipped by 1% to HKD442 million, but broadband operating profit increased by 25% to HKD132 million (HKD105 million). Pay-TV subscribers increased by 59,000, or 7%, in the period to 845,000.
