ComReg keen to offer 26GHz licences for FWALA services

15 Nov 2007

The Irish telecoms regulator the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) says its plans to re-open bidding for Fixed Wireless Access Local Area (FWALA) licences in the 26GHz band. The watchdog is inviting applications for companies wishing to offer broadband services to businesses and has set aside five channels in the frequency band. ComReg says the FWALA licensing scheme is already delivering wireless broadband services to consumers in the Republic, but there is still sufficient demand for spectrum for providing services to residential and business customers.
